Herts Visual Arts Big Art Fair at Hitchin Town Hall (during the Hitchin Festival) is open to 2020/2021 HVAF members only.

This light and open space is ours: Friday set-up and Preview Evening and Big Art Fair opening hours on Saturday and Sunday. In previous years places were fully subscribed within 12 hours (yes, 12 hours).

Please Register to confirm participation. Prompt payment of separate booking fees and other requirements will be within 2 weeks of a firm place offer. HVAF may need to balance the number and type of some media in order to ensure a varied visitor experiences. With around 60 artist places, there will be more screen places than table spaces.

In the event of over-subscription (when final numbers have been confirmed), priority will be given to paid-up HVAF members with up to date, complete HVAF gallery pages, in strict order of:

  • this original registration
  • payment for screen or table spaces within the specified payment window

If further spaces become available depending on set-up and actual bookings, priority will always go to members who pay fees/comply with booking conditions by any specified deadline.

From April and in the run up to the event, you will receive further event detail. All booking and payment will be on-line/by emails. It is your responsibility to read emails and respond accordingly.

Key 2020 dates:

  • Monday 23rd March: on-line registration opens
  • ????????: on-line registration closes
  • ????????? - ????????: artists will be contacted - successful artists must pay for their place within 14 days (un-paid places will be offered to the next name on the waiting list)
  • 17th July: artists set-up own work in time for Preview Evening
  • 17th July 7pm: Preview Evening with complementary drinks/nibbles, Open Studios brochure launch, Sponsor's Awards.
  • 18th/19th July: Open to public Sat 10-6, Sunday 10-4
  • Sunday 19th July 4pm: artists take down own work
  • August: payment for sold work, direct to nominated back account

Costs:

  • 2m square white display panel: £65 OR
  • 2m table space (artists own 6ft table): £55
    • add HVAF-supplied 6 ft table +£5
    • add 6ft*2ft Gridwall panel +£5
  • add Artist-supplied basket with up to 50 wrapped greetings cards: +£5
  • add Artists-supplied browser with wrapped unframed work/prints: +£5
  • No commission on sales

What's included in your fee:

  • sales handling (credit card payments subject to small handling fee), including wrap/tape and/or bags
  • use of screens/tables as above above
  • two tickets to the Preview Evening
  • entry into Visitors Vote over the weekend (certificate as prize)
  • inclusion in Sponsor's Choice awards at Preview Evening (certificate as prize)
  • entry in Big Art Fair mini-brochure
  • downloadable promotional materials
  • targeted press coverage
